As I write this on November 1st, 2012, it marks the four year anniversary of when my friend and fellow Managing Partner Mark Breuker joined Burton Energy Group (and officially doubled our employee count from 1 to 2 people). Yes, the “Group” part of the Company name was a loosely defined term in those days.  Mark and I set out to build an energy consulting firm that would positively impact our clients and community, and foster an environment where future colleagues could enjoy working together, grow professionally and have some fun.  As with any business, we’ve faced our share of challenges, including a depressed economy and sound competition. But with the unyielding belief that we were doing the right thing – the right way – we forged ahead.

So where are we now? In the midst of the journey! We’re fortunate to have added 20-plus peers who not only bring a wealth of knowledge and “energy,” but also individuals who we enjoy interacting with in and out of the office. Speaking of the office, we’re on our third one now. We recently relocated to Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta, and moved into a spacious complex that accommodates our needs today while allowing for more growth in the years to come.

What, specifically, allowed for this move? While some of my more creative peers would respond with “the U-Haul truck”, the real answer is our clients. We have been truly blessed to work on behalf of many outstanding companies that are leaders in their respective markets – FelCor Lodging Trust, Staples, Aimbridge Hospitality, McDonald’s, Meyer Jabara Hotels, Walgreen’s, Commonwealth Hotels, Bank of America, Lodgeworks, Hometown America, Chick-fil-A, Pillar Hotels, Amazon, Starwood Hotels, Outback Steakhouse, Destination Hotels & Resorts, FM Facilities Maintenance, Hersha Hospitality, Cox Communications, Accor Hotels, Morgans Hotel Group, RaceTrac and Hospitality Ventures Management Group, to name a few. And while we are privileged to call these companies our clients, it is the people who represent these brand names that have afforded us the opportunity to work together and, individually and collectively, make a difference in their energy programs.

With the help of our clients, a number of strong working alliances, talented co-workers and a little bit of luck, Burton Energy Group is prospering. In fact, I am proud to say we were recently recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America in 2012, an exclusive club that also includes Publix Supermarkets, CDW, Levi Strauss and Facebook.

On behalf of Mark and the rest of the Burton team, thanks to all who have played a part in our growth, and to you for taking the time to peruse our site and learn a little bit more about our company and services. The journey continues…
