Michigan State Representative Mike Shirkey has proposed legislation that will eliminate the limit on competition in the electric retail market. Proponents say embracing a deregulated, competitive market will drive prices down for customers and create jobs for Michigan citizens.

Currently, only 10% of electricity supplied to Michigan businesses are eligible to choose a competitive supplier.
